SmartDrones is equipped & experienced working alongside the main unit of a production. We can also be broken up into a self-contained second unit team to capture footage after a creative briefing.

Our drones are capable of filming more than just wide landscape shots. The SmartDrones team is able to fly our drones closer, lower, and faster. Drones are an efficient tool on a film set that can replicate crane, dolly, steadicam and helicopter footage.

All of SmartDrones pilots hold Advanced Pilots licenses allowing us to conduct Advanced Operations across Canada. We fly RPAS systems (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) that are approved for operations near & over people.

SmartDrones carries $3 million in liability insurance, which is 30 times the minimum amount previously required by Transport Canada.
We are the only drone cinematography company in Canada that has an experienced general counsel on staff that looks after obtaining the required permits from Transport Canada, Nav Canada, the national & provincial parks, and municiplties.

The Inspire 2 is versatile new drone that has made cinema grade aerials more accessible then they have ever been. The compact design allows for fast deployment and the ability to quickly relocate. The X7 camera has a Super 35 Sensor that shoots 6K RAW in CinemaDNG with 14 Stops of Dynamic Range.
The Freefly Systems Alta X is a heavy lift drone designed to lift cinema cameras on our Movi Pro. It boasts an impressive flight time of up to 20 mins with a RED or Alexa Mini and speeds upwards of 100 km/h.
